Lakes Center for Youth & Families is excited to partner with the Forest Lake area school district to offer school based mental health. School based mental health is a program in which Lakes Center for Youth & Families places clinical mental health providers at area schools to provide therapeutic services to students. Mentally healthy students are more likely to go to school ready to learn, actively engage in school activities, have supportive and caring connections with adults and young people, use appropriate problem-solving skills, have nonaggressive behaviors, and add to positive school culture.

Additional benefits of school based mental health include:

  • Improved social/emotional health and school success in students.
  • Greater accessibility for families to receive mental health counseling.
  • Aids in increased communication between the family and school.
  • Students experience more academic and social support.

School based therapists works collaboratively with school personnel to assess and treat the mental health needs of students. School based therapy is available to all students who qualify for mental health services. Most insurance plans are accepted, and financial help is available for families who may be uninsured/underinsured.
